my home town

in the green glow of a neon sign she waits for a ride

and finds a place to sleep tonight

the snow finds the their coldfaces as two boys struggle to hide

they look for shelter in the cold, and pray they just might

cars with windows covered in hard ice and snow slide by

with silent silohuette of homeless men in the streetlight glow

Land yachts of fantastic proportion seem to fly

across the glowing carpet of early spring snow

under the bridge, two girls share a stolen box of donuts and beer

no going back to the broken homes they left behind.

hungry and beaten they walk the frozen sidewalks without fear.

a place to sleep, a meal, and another chance tommmorw in their hearts and in their minds

perhaps we bcome invisible when the world finally beats us down.

but they share our streets, our parks and our hearts.....

in my home town.

just make you think about some people who live on thousands of dollars a day, throwing out food, driving around in bmw's, living in 5 bedroom mansions, watching plasma screens, while these people have nothing...

but thats life...

yeah...its the ponderous SUVs and wasteful practices many of us have.
They say you can judge a society by how we treat our prisoners..
but what about our economic prisoners.....
