walking with death

upon my feet two men stand

one in the sky and one in the sand

with death my companion and friend
from my birth till the final end

one more bullet and one more gun
two people I have become.

faces fill the mirror and disappear
one of courage and one of fear

mother forgive me for I have sinned
father forgive me I have to win

brother forgive me I turned my back
children forgive me for what I lack

a son, a father, a lover and a friend
my only companion is death...till the very end.

I found my shadow today
I found another way

I lived another day
but I cant find the courage to say

God forgive me and grant me some grace
fill my heart and wash my face

The devil waits for my body to yield
I have lost my armour and my shield

Naked since the day I became
my soul, my flesh and my given name.

with death my companion and friend
from my birth I wait till the bitter end

nothing to give and nothing to take
I linger on for heavens sake

I am what you hate and you despise
anger and fear and terrible lies

fatal vision and fatal hands
where once one stood now two stand

pierce my heart, my body and mesh
tiny pieces of my tender flesh

a puppet for the fallen son
of heavens host and only one

longer than time can measure and record
servant of darkness and servant of the lord

forgive me please I beg myself
alone but not whole I am nobody and no one else.

I wait for the end and draw my breath
since I was born..I walked with death..
