Epitaph (warrior's last words)
Epitaph (warrior's last words to his children)
we stand before the charging hordes. blood and steel will feed our hunger for battle flesh hewn and bones will rattle. In heavy rain our body's steam the autumn mist an unholy dream Odin give me speed and light carry me to the deadly fight My fathers father from the line I descend of mortal blood I willingly spend honorable death and an honorable fight feel my wrath and feel our might my children's children will someday wonder we answered the call, we made the thunder we stood against the beasts from the southern lands Odin give our son's pride and give them a sword for their hands. To meet the challenge we are many who became the one 100 souls against a thousand who fought and died and would not run Valkyries wait for our first to fall to the very last we destroyed them all.. Upon this land the fury and the fight. 100 men from dawn till night 100 less when morning comes to call brave men, brave souls, a legend of the fall.. son of my sons our land we came to save. keep the soil and the water free and remember our graves. Live and love, forget or remember, but never cry. our sacrifice was for the children and we shall never die...

It is about the Northern tribes and the Mongol invasion... that is why they turned back South and invaded Bulgaria, Romania..Italy...etc.. There is a very good song written by Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy on the Jailbreak Album Emerald (Lynott, Downey, Gorham, Robertson) Down from the glen came the marching men With their shields and their swords To fight the fight they believed to be right Overthrow the overlords To the town where there was plenty They brought plunder, swords and flame When they left the town was empty Children would never play again From their graves I heard the fallen Above the battle cry By that bridge near the border There were many more to die Then onward over the mountain And outward towards the sea They had come to claim the Emerald Without it they could not leave
