I have acquired some historic pictures from Auschwitz-Poland.A family member of mine which has returned from poland.. (a three day trip)

Its the 'Arbeit Macht Frei' over the gate that always gets me, was that supposed to make the poor people that ended up there believe that they would one day be free? I can only assume one of two things that

a) The original intention was not to mass exterminate people and it was supposed to be just a workcamp or

b) some sick b*stard thought that giving people even the slightest glimmerof hope was funny.

Thanks for that link...that looks good.. I picked out the best pics out the 180 in the file (Most are of poland).

I also have a few more from this POW camp but the picture quality is either blurred or well out of focus..

Look at the bent barbed wire in the first set, for some reason i find that oddly intimidating. What an awful place it must have been.
But i agree, it's been beautifully restored and preserved.
