What exactly is the building used for nowadays? Is it a hall or cathedral connected to some complex of buildings or something, just googled rotunda, didn't know it was actually a type of building.

PRINCIPAL BUILDING
Ickworth House (listed grade I) is an impressive late C18 large country mansion which lies at the heart of an extensive parkland. It comprises a 34.5m high central rotunda with curved corridors to south-west and south-east which link it to two-storey wings on each end, giving a total frontage of 190m. The whole is built of stuccoed brick with lead roofs. The Rotunda has a domed roof, circled by pilasters and decorated with a giant terracotta bas-relief by Flaxman and a central portico with four Ionic columns. Singlestorey segmental curved corridors lead to the two wings, each of which has a central pediment on four Ionic columns. The House was begun in 1795 by Francis Sandys after designs by Mario Asprucci, for Frederick, fourth Earl of Bristol, and was completed 1821(9 for Frederick William Hervey, fifth Earl and first Marquis of Bristol. It was built to replace an earlier house which stood down the valley about 400m to the southwest, beside the church of St Mary (listed grade II*) and close to the banks of the River Linnet. This early house was demolished in 1710 and although it is well documented that Vanbrugh was involved in the design and location of a new mansion, nothing came of his work (Debois 1991). The family moved into Ickworth Lodge (listed grade II) which lay 800m to the north on higher ground. It was described in 1731 as a rather insalubrious 'tenant's old house in the park' but here they stayed until Lord Hervey finally made a decision on the commissioning and building of the new mansion. just a fiver because I am a member of the National Trust, but after they know you, strolling everywhere else is usually tolerated, and I always bring my camera like a bloody tourist. I want to go back to Ireland next year and bring my good Camera.

My little brother got a scholarship from an Irish university study pharmacy next year, lucky bastard lol, he tells me they have a system of electronic boards on the roads over there (one of the few places in the world to have this apparently) that tell you exactly when and where free parking spaces are around the city, Irish girls are hot and willing if you ask me too, it sure would be an interesting place for an extra home if you were looking to get one. Have a couple of friends over there as well.

Yeah, really comes in handy in Bury St. Edmunds, Cambridge and Ipswich, but it can be wrong though, people still try to beat the ticket agent.
Last time I was in Ireland with one of our tours we were constantly passed on the road by crazy drivers and motorcyclists going well over the speed limit, and I didnt see any speed cameras either. Here in Suffolk we have speed camera's everywhere and it actually deter's some poeple I think. If you drive from my house to Horringer where Ickworth is, you could be going well in excess of a hundred miles an hour, and still have some stupid bloke right on your ass with a cell phone in one hand, and eating a bag of crisps or smoking with the other trying to pass you. In America if someone tail gates you, its wise to let them pass or pull over, because so many Americans do the stupid redneck thing and want to fight at the red light when you stop. Here in England the blokes might raise their fists in anger and make non-verbal gestures with their hands but they chicken out of direct conflict unless they themselves have been drinking too much, but that I have seen in East Anglia near the coast. I drive quite a bit between very early and late in the evening so I miss the real idiots, but we still have large groups of folks driving Japanese bikes and revving their engines and driving carelessly like BOZO ZOKU in Japan. The quite peace and splendor here is often broken by YOBs with little Peugeot cars with big stereo systems going like hell down the road, LOL. Some of the country roads here are very dangerous and motorcycle riders just minding their business get run over quite a bit by idiots passing other cars. Oh yeah, where was I. Seems as if most of the good picture taking places here get filled up pretty quick. I might go to Brighton Beach or Yarmouth soon, lots of counter culture folks there, worth a pic or two and they dont give a damn about signing a release or having their picture taken, and there is sort of an artists community there too. If you want, I have some castle pics here too, I can post them as well.
