Don't look directly into the sun, That's what Cameras are for!

Hey guys, I meant to post this before but forgot, as a test of how my Finepic S800fd handles massive light exposure, I set my camera to manual exposure (letting the camera decide the shutter speed) and went all the way down, my camera decided that 1/1300 of a second should be used, why so fast? well, see for yourself.

If you think that's bright, I could NOT look at that cloud while taking that picture, the light was piercing though and dazzled me, I shot and hoped I got it right, I hope you agree that i did

It sure handled that well. Keep looking for more of those shiny clouds.

Turned out very well there bud.

However I recommend if people are reading this to get a solar filter for their camera if they wish to take photos directly of the sun. It can damage the camera. Most of the affordable ones use a piece of aluminized mylar ("space blanket") stretched over a filter ring.

Thanks, and duly noted.

I have to admit I'm very new to this photography business, this is my first "enthusiastic amateur" camera, and as such my curious nature has been getting the better of me. The last thing I want to do is have to fill a warranty form with the reason "Well, that big bright thing in the sky? yeah, it doesn't like me, or my camera"

I think this camera will receive some major loving over the next few weeks, I need to get at least a tripod, and I've read that the thread size is...weird, meaning I need to go to Fujifilm themselves for filters etc, ah well, no huge deal.

Thanks for the comments all, this camera is massively fun to play with, but to see people enjoying my fun work too is even better!

Ciao!
