The Undead Moth

Hi there DH piccie fans!

I just took a few pics of this moth after it scared the living hell out of me..

A few weeks ago I noticed a moth hanging on the ceiling of my toilet, I thought nothing of it until a few days ago when it was still there, unmoved. I thought it had copped it, so I tried knocking it slightly, it fell from its "perch" and crashed onto the floor, motionless, dead confirmed, right?

Well, imagine my shock when today I go into the toilet to see that it had moved onto the wall...confused, I grabbed it carefully and took it to my room. Until it reached the warmth of my bed it was still completely motionless, however, slowly it started to move, only shaking at first, before opening its wings and then flying into my light!

I thought moths only lived for a few days at most, but it turns out some can hibernate too! So, without further ado, let me show you, the UNDEAD MOTH! (Apologies for the cropped shot of its wings, as you can imagine it wasn't posing for photos and I had to get anything I could before it went into a corner and shut up shop!):

Yes, yes they are!

Anyway, the thing has obviously warmed up enough to go on a bender, stopping only for moments at a time, but long enough to get a super macro shot off, not the best ever, but then he didn't want to stay still!

N.B it's a very good thing that moths like light, because super macro doesn't allow for flash, and the light wouldn't have been good enough for a decent pic anywhere else!

What sort of weirdo are you???? Taking a moth to bed, I bet you didnt even ask it's name.
Nice pic by the way, moths are pretty cool little dudes. Well except the ones that insist on constantly flying into your head for no apparent reason.

LOL!

Seriously though, I have no idea why I felt the urge to take the poor bugger (I have since released it), but hey, it was worth the fun.

Oh, it WAS one of those buggers who flew at you (And everything else) like mad, quite off putting to say the least!
