Re: My new Camera. (pictures at Duxford)

just wanted something easier to lug about, it fits in my coat and gives me RAW and AEB when I want it too. Otherwise, I might have opted for the Olympus solution.
I bought one for my son and daughter, Liz, Jecica, and Dad and they love the simplicity. I just didnt have the loot for the Sigma either.
thanx.

my apologies, its just a Canon G10, I bought it over the other 14 mpixel cameras based on the features and reviews in 5 magazines that applauded the value even with the price. If I were more artistic I might have chose the Sigma or the Olympus, but with my right hand buggered and almost useless, the remote from 450D worked with it, and it used the same storage media so it was a trifecta.
If I had my sheckels, and would have toyed with the Nikon D3 and learned a bit more about photography.

Re: My new Camera. (pictures at Duxford)

The Rebel XS is a very nice camera. A few things I like about it is the fact that just as with the XSi, it comes with an IS (image stabilization) lens by default, something my XTi didn't come with. Also, since the XS is the replacement for the XTi, it's pretty much the same camera, only it has a couple very necessary upgraded features: it uses SD/SDHC instead of Compact Flash I/II (although for some reason this has effected the amount of RAW frames per second you can take), has Live View so you can see what you are pointing at via the LCD screen, it's lighter, and uses a (edit: higher capacity) lithium polymer battery, which means the camera now lasts 2x longer than my XTi.

Re: My new Camera. (pictures at Duxford)

Tip, you may find that the Sakar replacement battery much better and cheaper. I use a tripod so I dont use image stab, there can be a trade off in quality even with good image stab. My 450D is just as good as the Nikon or Olympus models but 14 mp was what drew me to it
When I shoot now. its going to be monopod or tripod for everything if I can help it.

Re: My new Camera. (pictures at Duxford)

Thanks for the feedback will be a month or 2 before I have the money. I don't want to take Falstaff's thread to far off topic either so may start a thread when I am ready

Cheers !!
