I'm on a boat (prelude)

Today was a good day. I was able to spend it as a passenger on a locally built traditional full rigged brig. Me and my Nikon D40 had been looking forward to this and the weather did not dissappoint. I took a bit of a gamble by purchasing a polarisation filter for the camera yesterday without time to really get the hang of it, but as I browse over the results it seems to have been predominantly beneficial for todays task. Here's just two shots.

I'll put up more pictures later in the weekend or so when I have the time. I need to get to sleep for towmorrows work and the floor is gently wobbling.

OH HELL YEAH.....
talking like a pirate now and playing imaginary guitar notes.

I love the open water, more pics like this please if you have any.

judging by what I can see , she has three masts and a 120 foot hull?

if we are looking back towards the mizzen and spanker the stern gives it away.

She must have been built at the turn of the century when they were still building Barks for timber and coal.

I would love to know what her name is and her rig, if its a hybrid full or half rig.

I love them all.

I would greatly appreciate any more pics you can post please, thankyou

Re: I'm on a boat (prelude)

This brig is made after an original that had a workhorse life between 1869 to 1930. The one now sailing took ten years to build due to periodical shortages of resources and lack of know-how or even tools necessary to build a traditional, fully usable ship. Its maiden voyage was in 2006. I'll dig up a lot more info for a later posting.

I did get the article man, my Swedish is rubbish so I translated the web page. You are very fortunate to enjoy the open sea, did you get to tend lines or climb the mast?
