No Breeze on that day Jeff.. It were well into the 30's with no cloud cover.. And to get to this fort every step was uphill.Either a steep road or by steps..

Maybe for midgets,Yes the depth is deceiving as the remaining walls are aroud 2.5 foot high.This is what the fort looked like in it's prime.

I lived in Spain as a child with my father and he travelled to Portugal and all over Spain with my mother and myself as a tiny infant. He told me that the Christians and Moors between Silvas and Cordoba fought many wars and it actually sits on an Iron Age site.
What I find fascinating is the condition of the Castle itself, the Portuegese really put some work into it to restore it. I bet you can find Muslim and Christian influence in the buildings and streets. Your very fortunate, that is a very very historic place and region.
