Yes but this one is actually a glider of sorts or for training but it can accept a rocket motor or turbojet.

I know... The X-24 was test planes for lifting body R&D that was doen USAF and NASA.

With todays healthcare costs $6 million would get an arm....... maybe.

I think there is one other example in a hanger somewhere, but the engineering graduates of the USAFA patched that one up and it was mounted on a pylon, otherwise it probably would have been scrapped long ago. I think it is still sound for a duraluminun and titanium aircraft.
I just cant imagine mach two flight in one of those things, but it bears resemblance to the space shuttle eh?

Heh.. I think that NASA should have stick with the Apollo program until Apollo 20 and then tweak it so that they could use it in orbital missions with the skylab.

Yeah it was part of R&D for the early ideas for space shuttle
