what I was exactly thinking.

I just took some photos of some inanimate stuff and I was having problems with focus and lighting already, I could only imagine in a club environment where light is either pulsating or sparse while the subjects are moving about constantly.

hell no I shoot in JPEG (Medium) which is about 6.3mp on my 450D and 5.2mp on my 400D - don't need any more than that when I resize them down to 600x400 to upload, and there's no post-editing done, except for occasionally changing the black point (maybe one photo a month out of thousands) - when I take between 2-600 photos in a single night, I'm just too lazy to do anything more than select which ones to upload

The E-TTL function on the camera/flash is really helpful for that, I tend to stick to manual mode - f/3.5 with a shutter speed between 1/10-1/60, depending on what sort of effect I want to go for - and the camera calculates just how much flash burst is needed - and as I tend to bounce the flash off the ceiling/walls I usually get a more "natural" looking light, and when I'm not using the flash, the same settings tend to give me a nice result - I guess I've just learnt the capabilities of my camera.

The white party shots were actually taken with a 50mm f/1.8 II lens, at f/1.8, as was the first pic in my first post - just experimenting with what I can get using the available light - some clubs are just too dark for this though
