Re: Afternoon in the GOG
For some reason, I feel uneasy looking at this.

Re: Afternoon in the GOG
Oooh, great shot!
![]() BlueMak, perhaps it's not so strange that you feel uneasy, there is a place with similar formations in my country and it's called Đavolja Varoš - Devil's Town. Here are some pictures of it.

Re: Afternoon in the GOG
where exactly was this taken? I can't quite put my finger on the landscape of it...red sands(/rocks) of australia yet bushy hills of italy (looks like grape vine rows) in the background but at the same time it looks to me like what a fertile and dry desert would look like, although I just don't know where lol.

Re: Afternoon in the GOG
Love it. I think the spooky part is the Corsair dream PC floating in the middle of the sky.

Re: Afternoon in the GOG
The area is the Garden of the Gods.
People are actually buried here and there, some are ancient and some are quite new. Its a park, and a scientific site as well with the tourists, a place they can actually park and walk about on holiday. The whole area above and slightly below the park has the full native compliment of macro fauna. You could see a mountain lion, bear, coyote, fox and deer, elk, etc. not to mention, smaller mammals, birds of all types and especially raptors that prey on smaller birds. Because the area is nested between the front range proper and the Pikes Peak, it is surrounded by hills and valleys that capture mild snow and wind and rain events. You can find everything to delight the senses there, and still enjoy a sense of peace. The whole area is very very old, the rocks being primary Jurrassic and Triassic lithics with some Cretaceous sandstones that are interbedded and exposed like the surface of a properly decorated cake. Much of where I live was the shoreline of a large inland sea millions of years ago, and and most notably in more recent history, a medicine site for indians and a holy place for different tribes.
