Lost in the Eye


I did a photoshoot not too long ago with a girl named Alyssa, a beautiful short-haired country girl who took my breath away the moment I saw her while getting my ass whipped at ping-pong. Anyway, I asked her if she wanted to model for me and she agreed without hesitating. So, we got to shooting, and I got some amazing pictures of her, but the most amazing is this one.

Another really good one is this one:



She is just such a mystery, not just her personality, but the way she looks. Her smile, her eyes, the fact that she spontaneously climbs trees and doesn't mind picking up a dead dragonfly. The fact that she was so comfortable with a complete stranger taking photos of her even when she hasn't done any kind of modeling ever before. Gah, she is incredible, and these photos don't do her personality justice (Especially the stupid vignette I added. I had to tone down the white somehow).

Astounding, Love the clarity on the eye macro. Did you use a wider aperture for it?

I used the kit lens fully extended, so aperture was probably 5.6 (Pretty amazing that it got the depth of field so narrow). I tried using the 50mm I was borrowing, but it wouldn't focus close enough.

I use a 50 and an 80 mm lense for my portraits
