bro, don't do it for me. If you don't want to then that's cool. But I think we are similar and making excuses of why not to ask her out isn't helping. Assuming she's out of your league is the worst thing to do.. as far as I know, there is only one league.
See it as good exercise for the time a girl comes along that you really do like/want.

She might have not even checked her messages yet, battery is flat, got no credit, hasn't got her phone on her.
I have had times myself were I intended to answer, but something got in between and then I forgot about it. Only to remember I didn't text back after a couple of hours or the next day even..
So if you don't get a response right away.. don't sweat it, it might still come.
And if it doesn't come.. you are right, move on.

My opinion (should you choose to listen) is to do it in person... Texting will almost certainly get you a "No", in my experience (its been a while since I've texted something like that)...

Do it in person, so what if she says no, you'll show her you are the man... and that you like her... Look her in the eyes at all times, there is nothing to be ashamed of, everything is normal, boy likes girl -> asks her out

Well, she hasn't replied, and I never see her unless I arrange a meeting with her (My schedule keeps me out of my apartment almost all day and night). Since she's not replying to my text, I won't bother. I never really "liked" her. Just a passing shallow interest. I'd like a girl that spends more time on my end of campus (Where the smart people are, a.k.a. engineers and geologists). Jeeze, I do have quite a prejudice against non engineers!

There's nothing wrong with "shallow interests". They can be fun and they can also become something more once two people start getting to know each other better. Also, don't be lazy to make a bit of effort even if a girl you noticed doesn't really knocks your socks off. Those that do that do that at first contact are few and far between and unless you've been "practicing" in the mean time, you might find your charming skills a bit rusty when you most need them. Trust me, I should know.

Oh, and one more thing. There's a saying here: "It's not the Handsome, it's the Persistent that gets the girl."* Like everything else about humans, there are exceptions to the rule, but I've seen it hold true in some extremely improbable cases. So, as a general rule, don't give up after the first cold reaction.

* Actually, it's slightly more vulgar than that, but that's beside the point.

Okay, well, I won't give up completely, I'll just keep it on the back burner.

On a side note, I'm about to die because of my C++ exam later today, and that's one reason I'm being a little negative and irritable (Noticed that Kizo is a C++ dev).
