"gask mask"

I drew this in art class my junior year in highschool (14 years ago). My art teacher entered it into a Scholastic Art contest and it actually won a gold key and a Scholarship to an Art school. I never went.

I scanned it at 1200dpi (it was 32mb and about 5000 x 7000 pixels). I reduced it to 1200w x about 2200h and saved it as a quality 10 jpeg in PS- it's still a pretty big file for 56k'ers I guess.
This isn't the entire picture- I couldn't fit the whole thing in the scanner- the top and bottom are cut off- but only a few inches on each dimension. In the original picture, the gaskmask is hanging on an upside down "T" shaped piece of wooden framing.

*edit- I reduced the size to 1024px wide, before it was actually larger than the original.

damn good bro...this one has texture, and content and context...it looks like an old mark 5 gas mask to me...very well done

Thanks!- I actually drew that from life- the thing was hanging right in front of me. Man, that was a LONG time ago! I hope to produce some more artwork like this soon- I'll be sure to get it posted in this forum as soon as I do.

Thank you, and guess what? After all these years, I never even thought of trying to find out what kind of gas mask that was. It was just something the art teacher has in the big closet...

Anyway- after you said that name it got me curious and I did a search.. I actually found out what it was! (kinda)

It's either one of these 2 here-

I remember the mask being all black, but the the US Army MI-I-5 Optical Gas Mask is shown here in green- I know it was this one because of the ridges on the eye peices and the mising "U" on the forehead. But I know it was black. Anyway- thanks for the input- I would have never found it if you didn't say that..

Hmm- I guess quite rare too- and came in black and green.. Amazing what you can learn on google.
