![]() Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth Of sun-split clouds and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of- wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there, I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung My eager craft through footless halls of air. Up, up, up the long, delirious burning blue I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace Where never Lark, or even Eagle flew - And while with silent lifting mind, I've trod The high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand and touched the face of God. - John Gillespie Magee, Jr, 1922-1944 for the brave crew of the Shuttle Columbia, and a fellow sailor, Capt David M. Brown

That's cool-
One of those "lifting bodies" from the 60's. Did you see the footage of that one crashing? And I think the guy lived..

yes, this one was a variant of the program, footage was used in the "six million dollar man" T.V. series. only a few are left, one at the Air Force Academy in colorado springs.

this is homage to a friend and fellow sailor, David M. Brown, I had the pleasure of his aquaintance and worked for him briefly in Fallon Nv. at the Strike Warfare Center, he was a surgeon and a warrior, and had more courage than I will ever muster....God bless him where ever he is..
