Your preferred imaging programs
What imaging programs do you guys use? I noticed that maybe of the pics here are from bryce and other 3d apps. Myself, I prefer good ol' photoshop. The reason being that I tend to dislike those abstract peices of liquid metal floating in the middle of a water landscape. Also, Photoshop can render 3d effects, though not the the extent of programs like Maya or 3dsmax. Those programs also make things...well... fake-ish for the lack of a better term. The lighting and reflection on things like skin are too bright and things like that.
I'm not saying that 3d is bad; it looks really good when imported to Photoshop, it's just that I prefer something more of a "illustration" effect than blobs of metal. Maybe I can incorporate some 3d in my work.

So, I gather Bryce is the way to go for 3d? I'm using Photoshop CS, by the way.

Bryce has its limitations, been stated around a lot of being a newb tool... anymore to me a lot of the renderings are starting to look the same

It's made by ULead. You can get a free download version. The newest one out is 8 with version 9, I think expected soon.

Dyre, 1 question.... Do you get good font work using your program? I noticed your beveled font, I have troubles coming up with good lettering for my work.

I have over 4500 fonts on my machine right now. 500 are installed right now. If I had all of them installed, loading Photoshop would take hours, maybe even make my machine crap out. :P I like the fonts included in Corel Painter 8. Nice stuff there.

One of the other cool things that PhotoImpact 7 provides is an Animated GIF 5 Program. THAT program allows one to save an animation as SWF file. That's how I made my own animated sig here.
![]() I presently have 414 Fonts installed. I've had many, many more on previous systems and realized after a while that I just didn't need that many fonts! LOL |

Adobe's ImageReady lets you save as SWFs as well. I never really tried it though, so I have no idea of the quality.

Well, I hate to divulge the truth of how I got PhotoImpact 7, but, if you have any computer shows around you ought to check them out if they have any software vendors. I've been tinkering with PI since an early version....3 or 4, I can't remember now. But, when I saw version 7 not long ago on the software table, brand new, for $14.99, I had to pick it up.
