lots of them here, because of all the natural attrition of local species, they feed on Carrion

That pond looks like it has a lot of deposits around the outside...it reminds me of the ones here.

it is all Basin and Range geography, a land once covered by inland seas that eventually turned to salt and then back to inland, during the Laramide Orogeny the Rocky Mountains rose and so did the terrains attached to Nevada including the Southern California coast, the Farallon plate pushed up and then submerged under the existing crust of Nevada, eventually creating numerous hotspots that formed volcanic areas in the United States that you can trace all the way from the submerged sea mount of California all the way to Yellowstone....the lakes were once abundant and migrating tribes of indians dwelled on its shores....until of course they dried up...ten thousand years ago...you can find Mammoth bones here and there beneath the tuffaceous rocks and sedimentary sand stones..

What do you do for a living jeff? I think you'd make a great geography or history teacher.

We test aircraft and survellience drones nearby, people used to see UFO's but the familiar triangular shape of the aircraft is no longer news anymore....its either test it here in Nevada or on the Gulf Shores where there are fewer people.
