I guess it is more like a metaphor...sorry.
you see the land I stood on was Sand Springs Station, an old Pony Express station in the Carson Sink of Nevada near Sand Mountain, the valley is surrounded by steep brown mountains of basalt that capture a dry bowl of hot sand and sagebrush. during the 1860s mail was delivered by Pony Espress Riders that made a mad dash across the 40 mile desert to get across to fresh water, they braved Shoshone indian attacks and weather, if they failed, the might die..
I guess I could see them in the horizen stumbling through the sand dunes and coming to a gallop across the brilliant white surface of the dry lake, leaving a whirlwind of dust behind them, hell bent on reaching fresh water....
