dunno, but it looks drawn in, like photoshoped or something. could be wrong though. Looks so small compared to it's older kin though.

Well its not folks, it is just a little sequoia struggling for sunlight and space amid trees that are hundreds and thousands of years old. With the changing climate, and warmer summers and less rain, young trees that desperately cling to life have a really rough time till they stand almost 20 feet tall and even then there is no gaurantee that they will survive because they depend on so many things. Our legacy that existed in California less than a hundred years ago is trying to make a comeback. But tree years much like geological years pass so quietly that I think we will not notice the loss of so many saplings. I picked up several pine cones from the great tree and gave them to a friend to plant in a sub-alpine zone in the Sierra Nevadas to see if they might survive, who knows, but I tried.
I love trees, and the Sequoia's will no doubt see perhaps 100 more years of sustained growth before dramatic weather changes affect them.
