MSI Wind U100 Laptop @ DH

Read The Review Here
________________

After Asus revealed the Eee PC back in 2007, there were bound to be some who would follow suit and release their own ultra portable notebooks. With hotspots appearing throughout cities all over the world the market is becoming ripe for cheap, ultraportable, easy to use computers to perform basic tasks.

Sure, there are a selection of smart phones with Wi-Fi capability, word processing and email tools but no PDA or phone can compare to the functionality, power, and ease of use that a subnotebook gives you. Today we’re going to look at the MSI Wind U100 Series, a smart looking subnotebook aimed directly at the successful EEE PC market.

Drystone image on page 4 is not working.

Great little netbook, but not that unique, Acer Aspire and Eee PC 1000H is also great alternatives, plus the other billion of different models from other companies.

I'm waiting to see what AMD and VIA can come up with in 2009, then hoping for a netbook with a dual-core cpu, 6 cells battery, 9 og 10" screen, SSD drive (min. 16GB), bluetooth, 802.11n, builtin HSDPA modem and hopefully a price under 500$.

Re: MSI Wind U100 Laptop @ DH

I must say that I am underwhelmed. The device is appealing in many ways, but the battery life is too poor. It is very small, but one can hardly take full advantage of the device's physical portability if the battery is going to run out in a little over an hour and a half. As the review says: "The result of our battery life test would be enough to put us off using the 3 cell variation on a daily basis.", which is a shame for a laptop that has the right form factor to be carried around everywhere.

Yeah, you can purchase the laptop with a 6 cell battery now as well, its a little more expensive though:
