ATI Radeon HD 4830 (Sapphire, Powercolor and HIS)

Read The Review Here
_________________________

Just over a week ago ATI launched the Radeon HD 4830 which is the latest card in the 4800 series range and hits the market at around £99/$130. Unfortunately, due to a BIOS issue on the first batch of review sample cards (reference models and some retail branded) the full number of unified shaders was not available and performance was therefore negatively impacted (some reviews you have already read on other publications are actually wrong).

Re: ATI Radeon HD 4830 (Sapphire, Powercolor and HIS)

Just ordered the cheap HIS one for my second computer. very impressive. Also great to see DH taking time to get the right bioses rather than rushing the article. Some rather dodgy 4830 articles up last week.

Good job DH with accurate testing as always. Thats why I come here!

awesome to see coolers like sapphires. good overclocks too. Kid brother is going to get one for his birthday. should handle his WOW and WAR addiction well.

Nice review guys.

Re: ATI Radeon HD 4830 (Sapphire, Powercolor and HIS)

Went back to find a 4670 review, just to see if the "baby" of the 48xx range is soundly above the top of the 46xx.

So, there is now a full 3 way set in the 48's - 4830, 4850, 4870, oh, plus the X2 of course
In the 46, there is the 4650 (48 watt) and 4670 (close to maximum for no power connector)
In the 45, there is 4550 - at 20 watts max, entry level both electrical and computing power, but holding up well against other budget cards and maybe even against midranges of older card series.
In the 43, a 4350, even lighter than the 4550.

With the 4-series pretty much fully covered, I guess the 3's are effectively obsolete.
