Alienware M17 Laptop @ DH

Alienware M17 Laptop Review
____________________

Towards the latter half of 2008 we took a look at two high performance laptops from Alienware, the m15x and m17x. Both laptops offered phenomenal performance in an attractive package. Today we are going to look at the Alienware M17, a laptop which slips in next to the m17x, ditching Nvidia’s SLI for Crossfire and bringing quad core processing to the table on an updated platform.

Great review guys . Was waiting for it as I saw a lot of advertisements on this laptop.I am quite disappointed with gaming performance especially in crysis . Even with my rig (under avatar) I can achieve higher FPS .

Great review Nathan and not really what I expected. As noted the 3870, temps and battery life amongst other things really degrade this system from a buyers standpoint.

I was surprised to see how poorly this machine really did when put to the test. Great review!!! Also, how do you screw up one of the things you base your unique reputation on (cough*cough* lighted keyboard). Oh well hahaha better luck next time I suppose. I did find it interesting that it was x-fired 3870's that were used in theis build rather than some type of 4000 series chips

Re: Alienware M17 Laptop @ DH

Funnily enough my friend bought this machine last week online and it arrived and his keyboard was faulty. the red didnt work. also some brightness problems down the right side. Real shame they don't use a high end LED screen on this machine.

He got it replaced and the lighting on the keyboard is awful. For the money its terrible value. No gamer wants 3870's in 2009. Shame on Alienware. The Asus W90 thats coming out soon looks like it will absolutely slaughter all of these poorly put together machines.
