Sapphire Radeon 4890 Atomic @ DH

Sapphire Radeon 4890 Atomic Review
_______________________________

Recently we tested the Sapphire 4890 Vapor-X which offers a slight improvement over the reference model with a modest overclock and a custom cooling solution. Today however we will be taking a look at the real powerhouse that Sapphire have on offer, the HD 4890 Atomic.

Another nice card from Sapphire. How would it compare to a 4870X2 performance wise?

Very nice card. This bit especially made me happy:

You don't often come across high end cards with near silent cooling solutions. +1 for Sapphire there.

Thanks for the review.

Re: Sapphire Radeon 4890 Atomic @ DH

Good review

I've got the Toxic HD 4890. It does 1000|1100 on 38% fan speed. I can bench it with the core on 1050 if I want to set the fan to blow dry. IMO it's not worth it.

I got the card primarily for its thermal and acoustic properties. Sapphire have really done a good job with their Toxic and Atomic cards.

Mine is 43C idle and 60-65C load. It's very quiet. I can't hear it over my system fans which are all on low. My SilverStone case has all optional fans slots populated. I also have the top fans running as intakes, not exhaust.

The only card that beats it well is an overclocked GTX 285. Of course those are a bit more cash too.

Decent looking card and another great review Nathan !!

The quietness of the cooling fan coupled with the overall performance is most impressive
