Buffalo Technology Interview with Jon Waring
Hi Jon, give us a little introduction for yourself?
Hi, I'm Jon Waring and my main responsibility is to deliver Buffalo products to the huge number of UK consumers via key customers (Dabs, Amazon, eBuyer etc). I support our online retailers with their product selection, attend events with them so that I can meet our customers and understand their storage needs.
We've not seen much from Buffalo Technology in the past, can you tell us a bit more about Buffalo as a company?
  • We are the world's leading manufacturer of consumer NAS products (six years in a row!)
  • Buffalo is a leading provider of external hard drives and portable storage devices
  • We have strengthened our range of wireless products to ensure reliability, speed, range and the delivery of overall performance

I see that Buffalo is deeply rooted in the provision of storage, what would you recommend for our readers specifically?
This really depends on a variety of factors:
  • How many devices do you want to connect to the storage unit?
  • What is more important to you, speed or capacity - or both?
  • Is price the most important factor?
  • Do you need to access your data while on the move or away from the storage device?

You can visit our website to find out more about the range of products, or you can send us an email: uksales@buffalo-technology.com. But our latest storage product is the DriveStation Velocity, which is a USB 3.0 superfast external hard drive. You can transfer around 1,000 files in under 7 seconds!
What are the key specifications that allow it to deliver that performance?
The Velocity has a 7,200rpm hard drive and with USB 3.0 and TurboPC EX utility for Windows, this brand new product will save you time when transferring your files. It holds up to 3TB of data and is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 for users who have not yet converted to USB 3.0.
As well as storage products you also manufacture wireless routers. Can you tell us some more about that?
Our latest range of N-technology routers are proving to be the best yet! Buffalo have ensured that they can match, and in some cases deliver more than the current market leading routers. We've made sure that they are competitively priced, and the range ensures that everyone can find the right router to meet their personal requirements. The WZR-HP-G450H model is our fastest yet and is perfect for your gamers as its fast, reliable, stylish and has really good range of coverage.
So what's next from Buffalo - can you give us some insight?
Very soon you will see a new product from us called CloudStation. It is a NAS product with a plug-and-play style set up, and utilises PogoPlug. But we will be sure to let you know where and when you can buy this product in the next few weeks.
Thank you for talking to us!
