Screen Resolution
Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a 15'' laptop that came with RADEON XPRESS 200 m series. Im not a big gamer, and seem to be contempt with my screen except for the fact that the screen resolution is too big. the best i can currently get it to go to is 1024 x 768, is there any way that i can make it smaller then this. I have tried to play around with my dpi, but that only makes the desktop smaller but not all the other windows. Obviously i dont have an option go lower on my Display settings. Is there a way i can acomplish it so that i will get a better resolution. thank you all in advance. |

nope. all monitors have a maximum resolution. with LCDs, it's usually more apparent than with CRTs, because you HAVE to run it at max resolution for it to not look like trash, for the most part. If your laptop will only go up to 1024x768, then that's the best you can do with that screen. Your only option is to connect it to an external display (if you use it a lot at home, for example), if it has such capabilities. (I have a 15 inch LCD monitor i use on my desktop as a secondary display, and 1024x768 is the max for that as well). most CRTs will go up to 1280x1024, so that'll be a bit better for ya.

thats a typical max for a 15"....now, if it's a 15.4" widescreen, it may do 1200x800

I'm just shooting this out there, because i remember having a utility for my PocketPC at one point that 'simulated' higher resolutions. It made everything look pretty bad, but it gave me more screen real estate. It was an interesting little hack, nonetheless. Perhaps there's one out there for PCs? Who knows, i'm just kicking the peanut around, here.
