updating drivers regularly?

From what you know, what brand/company best supports its laptops with drivers? Graphics of course and all the rest.

There is a strong chance I will sell my desktop and my xbox 360 this summer to get a laptop for the next 2 years or so and I would love to know the above.

I might sell the PSP too.

For money. I am not going to use the Desktop PC, so leaving it thousands of miles away to gather dust is silly. The 360 (premium 1.5 years old, no problems at all), I have very few games for it (Gears of War, Halo 1-2, PGR3, NBA2K7, Mass Effect, Saints Row and incoming Fuels of War), I believe I can get some money for it.
I will need all the money I can save to get the laptop.

As to why buy the laptop, I am going back to the university this September for my final year and carrying a huge case like my PC (not even including the 24" monitor) and the xbox, to stay in the tiny room there, plus after I graduate I have NO idea where I will go, not even what country, it's just too much.
As for games, I am sure a good laptop will be enough for 2-3 years for my gaming needs since I find myself losing interest to FPS and RTS game faster than expected and my love for turn based games never faltering.

So, that's it I guess.

I used to have a laptop, bought in 2002 (still have it, just not working very well) so I am experienced with laptops in general and what it means in terms of performance and what you gain and what you lose.

It is a Compaq Presario and while there were drivers for it, I wouldn't say I was impressed with how often there were newer drivers available. On the other hand thanks to that I found Omega drivers and then Driverheaven.

Toshiba has a good reputation, or used to have, regarding drivers.
I am just worried, want to be careful that whatever laptop I get, it will be supported with software updates for a couple of years and I won't end up searching and searching to who knows where to get drivers for it.

Toshiba make nice machines, but I don't know about driver support anymore. My guess is, if you're not trying to take a Vista laptop and install XP on it, you're fine.

Have you considered a Mac? Maybe with a dual boot to Windows. There are some really nice machines out there now, though the price of admission is a bit steep, imo.

From what I understand the only Mac laptops worth the money are the macbook pros. But apart from being slimmer and perhaps more beautiful, part for part are not as powerful as other similar priced laptops. Thus, I see no point.

Perhaps I will end up getting an Atari Stacy
