Sony fz11 no hdmi audio on win xp (Sigmatel HD audio)

Hi,
I have just downgraded to win xp installing successfully all needed drivers. However, a problem occurs while connecting to lcd tv. The picture works fine but there is no signal.
Any solutions?
Cheers.

You may need to set sound output to HDMI in control panel sound devices

Thats the problem... there is no choice for HDMI audio out.... I am currently using Sigmatel Audio version 5.10.4811.0 as listed in Add/Remove programs and have KB835221 High Definition Audio Driver package from Microsoft.

From what I understand the KB835221 is the Microsoft UAA (Universal Audio Architecture) framework for HD audio.... you need a minimum of this to work along with with the Sigmatel Audio package.

There is a newer version of the Microsoft portion KB888111 .... its not available at the Microsoft site but can be found.... I don't know if this would help our HDMI Audio Output problem???

I think we need a newer Sigmatel portion but I haven't found anything that work in XP yet on a Sony FZ series... unless someone else has?

It seems the Dell Lattitude 1530 series was having the same issue ... can we use a driver from Dell?

If there is a hdmi port on the machine there has to be a HDMI / digital option.
It could be the drivers are corrupt.
Or ensure running as admin

Thanks for the quick reply.

I have a VGN-FZ180E/B US model and I do have an HDMI output. This system was of course installed with Vista, and I now have it as a dual boot system and am trying to fix this XP HDMI audio problem. I do have normal audio. When I go into the Sounds and Audio Devices (under Control Panel) and to the Audio tab... the default Sound playback device is SigmaTel Audio (my only choice)... if I hit the Advanced button it brings up the types of speakers but no choice for HDMI out.

I have just uninstalled KB835221 and the my Sigmatel sound driver and have KB888111 and the Audio.RAR files installed now from a post here....
http://www.hardwareheaven.com/windows-...ml#post1125424

I know I don't have a AR model but there seems to be a lot of common drivers among Sony computers......

I am using laptops2go 169.28 modded driver along with their special modded INF such that I can get the brightness buttons working... this may have an effect but I don't think so.

Anyway, the SigmaTel driver now listed in my Add/Remove programs is the same as before and the sound over HDMI issue is not any better.

The instructions you sent are for Vista and I don't have any problems their... just in XP....

Any help would be great!

In this case i can't be sure.
Your HDMi output needs to be set to play sound via HDMi
As far as i know there is no other way
Maybe ask sigmatel forum/tech support the question - or it could be drivers aren't fully supported on XP for your pacticular VAIO sound chip?
