Which should I get a Z or SR
I am in kinda of a jam, I cant really decided which to get.. I dont want to spend much over 3000 dollars.
I could either get a sony Z with: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor P9500 (2.53GHz) Microsoft® Windows Vista® Home Premium with Service Pack 1 4 GB DDR3-SDRAM (DDR3-1066, 2GBx2) DVD±R DL / DVD±RW / DVD-RAM Drive 200 GB SATA Hard Disk Drive [7200 rpm 3 year Accidental for $2,917.05 with tax and shipping Or I could get an SR with: # Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T9600 (2.80GHz) Microsoft® Windows Vista® Home Premium with Service Pack 1 4 GB DDR2-SDRAM (DDR2-800, 2GBx2) [Regular price $150] 160 GB SATA Hard Disk Drive [5400 rpm] [Regular price $50] ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3470 3 year Accidental for about 2000. But here is the catch, If i get the SR i am going to get an SSD ( i will get an SSD with the z eventually) and an external hd putting me at about the same price as the z. I do wanna do some light gaming (d3 when it comes out, cs:s, bf2).. Your opinions please? and which ssd do you guys recommend?? I wanna use this laptop for school and work. I mean i just dont know what i wanna get convice me to get one please. |

Two good machines but you won't do much gaming with a 3470 (not sure whats in the first one). Its just basically a faster 3450 still on a 64bit memory bus.
You are sold on Sony I take it ? |

They're two very different notebooks it seems! Guessing from the memory types, you're comparing a new Montevina chassis with a Santa Rosa refresh machine.
That said, if it was my choice, i'd stick with the Z, but Zardon is right, neither will really suffice for gaming (guessing that the Z is Intel graphics) |

If you absolutely have to go with a Sony then you might want to get this Sony Vaio VGN-FW11ZU. It has a Radeon 3650 which is definitely a better performer than the 3470 and I am pretty sure that since you can get it fro 1200 GBPs in the UK, you can get it for less than $2000 in the USA.

something like this seems the best value for gaming imo - I love sony but you do pay over the odds at times.
