Laptop for my girlfriend?

My girlfriend's looking for a laptop. About a maximum budget of £500, that will generally be used for doing uni work, listening to music, and going on the internet. No gaming, no video editing, nothing fancy like that.

So key features are:

It's nice and fast. (She's an impatient young lady.)
Lightweight, cos she'll be taking it to uni (albeit in a car but there's some carrying involved) every week.
Looks nice, haha.

Any suggestions of either places to look, or actual links to recommended laptops?

It looks good, but it is 3 kilos. Carrying it all day might not be her best desire.

You can always get a netbook like the MSI Wind. Here is a great review of a clone of it by one of the best humans ever lived on this planet.

She says she'll be okay with 3kg cos she won't be carrying it around much.

She's coming tomorrow, so I'll check back here then, but currently I think we'll just plump for the Acer T7300 from Scan and the 3 year warranty/bag/mouse kit. £520 in total. That'll do.

Obviously, between now and tomorrow afternoon, any feedback whatsoever is highly appreciated.

I have heard bad things about their quality. Their bluestone line is good but the rest is kinda meh.

Finally decided what she's getting though, only problem is it's from misco.co.uk and neither of us have ever heard of them. Prices are very nice though, and it says 'next working day' delivery, so at least we'll know almost instantly if she's been scammed and robbed. Anyway...

Yeah, the thing is that from what I have heard the only thing worse than Acer building quality is their customer support/service, so that warranty wouldn't make me feel that good tbh.
