no volume control

i recently posted a note re presario c793 with no sound, i got the sound working with MS UAA and then sp 34200 from hp. the problem is i cant control the laptop volume, the usual volume control icon doesnt work, i need an add-on or something to fix this, any ideas?

It doesn't appear or any changes made there don't work?
