presario f730us won't recover

hi, new to the forum and could use some advice. my sil' compaq crashed and the recovery disks aren't recognized, system reports they are not supported. f11 doesn't work, can't boot into safe mode, best buy won't look at it without $100 up front and it's still under warranty. does that sound right? the bios doesn't report anything about the hard drive and the self test reports it's not supported. if this isn't enough info please let me know. thanks in advance.
