Laptop running extremely slow
So I'm guessing I did this to myself somehow but I can't figure out how to fix it. I recently installed (and soon after uninstalled) a bunch of optimizing / driver updating programs. After playing around with those, my laptop is running slow... I can't watch videos, the buffer causes it to just show the image while the audio plays... After running Dr. Hardware it looks like my CPU is only running at 800mhz which is a lot slower than it used to. Any ideas?

Re: Laptop running extremely slow
maybe somehow you happen to underclock the CPU... or something like that...
load the BIOS defaults and see if the CPU clock is back to normal... it should run fine after that. if it is still too slow, try loading the optimized defaults under BIOS... if that doesn't work too, a format and a reinstall of OS should do the trick .

Re: Laptop running extremely slow
You should defrag, disk cleanup, and cut back on loading programs when you boot up.
And why is your CPU 800mhz? It's expected to be slow if that's your clock speed. |
