I also hope you tried Toshiba's website.

And I have to strongly agree with Robert McClelland about waiting for Windows 7 that should be out in a few months.

You will hands down like it more than XP. Trust me it is faster, more secure, lots of new features, etc. No reason to go back to almost a 10 year old OS.

Vista is also better than XP but that doesn't stop him/her from wanting to downgrade to XP.

Re: Hi! there i'am new member... help me on my laptop

Just in case you still want to install XP, ivan:

The reason it won't install isn't necessarily because you don't have SATA drivers, it's because the laptop, by default, most likely has the controller setup to AHCI, and, by default, the driver isn't part of the Windows install disc. However, if you go into the bios, and change the hard drive controller to something like IDE compatible, or PATA mode (so not AHCI or RAID) you should be able to install XP just fine as the OS will think it's running on a native controller.

There is another way to do it, but it would involve rebuilding an install disc with the drivers you need slipstreamed into it. That way you could run the laptop in AHCI mode, and because the Windows install disc would now have the drivers on the CD, the install would proceed just fine.

Of note, if you do go back to XP just realize that you are going to have a fun time (being sarcastic here) finding the necessary drivers for it. While you may or may not find them on Toshibas site do look at other manufacturers sites as they may have XP drivers for the same components that are in both their laptop and your laptop.
