packard bell easynote m5262 sound problem

Hi ,I have a packard bell easynote m5262dw laptop and i'm having problems with the sound .
The sound won't work on it's inbuilt speakers but when you plug in external speakers into the headphone jack has good sound .
have updated all the drivers'wondered if it was something to do with the fact I had to reinstall with xp but not it's own recovery and downloaded all the drivers everything else works fine just the sound i'm having problems with .
Can anybody help?
