Ok this is making me angry

I have a ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 with Omega drivers 3.8 installed. After having installed said driver my laptop screen will no longer shutoff when I close the lid and I want to know why. Its irritating me. Google has not been any help. I have uninstalled CCC and the ATI Drivers. I am only using the omega and ATI Tray Tools. I know its the Omega Driver causing it as it did not do this when I had the stock OEM from Dell for my card. How do I fix it?

I don't know. Have you tried remove all graphics drivers related, including Omega and try again?

Also, when asking for help with a laptop, it is always a good idea to provide the make and model of the laptop.

It is a Dell Insprion E1705. I have not tried reinstalling the omega drivers. I am currently uninstalling the ATI tray tools to see if that fixes it.

Re: Ok this is making me angry

Yes! That fixed it removing ATI Tray Tools fixes it. Hmm so that was the problem all along. It must have to do something with the ATI Hotkey Poller or w/e it disables it to run something or another. Yay!. Hopefully if someone has the same problem as me they can solve it just as easy as I did.

Although I do have a another problem and its not related or anything and its not that big a deal just a minor annoyance. For some reason whenever I restart my machine it takes it about 4-5 min to recoginize that I have a wireless card lol and during that time anything that uses the net does not work. I boot the machine and it loads all the stuff and the wifi light comes on but under the connection settings its not there and it freezes when i go to connect to until It detecs the card. I have no idea why its doing this. When I previously reinstalled windows it fixed it but than it started back up again after so long. The only way I found to fix it is a reinstall of windows. I was just wondering if anyone else has this problem and if there is another way to fix it.

usually in most laptops, you can set the ability to power off the screen in windows power management as well....

dunno about your wireless card though, if Omegadrivers are doing that, then why dont you use the official ones instead?

Um the omega are not doing that to my wifi card silly man. The reason I am not using the stock cards as it is a Dell laptop and are OEM only. I needed an update to the graphics card to keep an error from happening on my game. Dell has not updated the driver for my card for 4 damn years. I am not going to sit around waiting for them to pull their heads out of their ass and get me an update. So I am using a 3rd party driver since I am not able to use the latest ones from ATI due to them being OEM only. I really hate this OEM thing. All is well though I have got the driver working properly and no crashing since than so yay but than again who knows with these windows.

When I modded the driver all it did was mess up CCC and I couldnt use it. All the files were still there just it wouldnt launch the program so I uninstalled everything ATI wise, deleted all folder etc and than I installed the omega. AS for anything maintenance wise done it. I have done just about everything you could think of to try to fix the wifi problem other than reformat which im not doing. Obviously no one here has/has had the same issue that I have had. But I have done registry clean, disk clean, disk defrag, registry defrag. This is not a recent problem either its been doing that for months. I just learn to live with it and dont restart the cpu all the time. In fact I use the hibe feature. Only time I ever restart the cpu is if it starts getting laggy or its needed for something else.
