Some observations Netbook vs old laptop

I decided to see if my old laptop still works. The batter is dead and I had to remove one of the two dimms to make it run without crashing.
Windows XP.
The hardware of the old laptop
Compaq Presario 2816EA
Pentium IV @ 1.7Ghz
256 RAM (now)
Radeon Mobility 7500m with 64MB dedicated memory.
7200rpm 60GB Hitachi drive (my upgrade in 2002-3 or something).

On the other hand a clone of MSI Wind with the Atom @ 1.6Ghz, 1GB RAM, 945 intel chipset, 120GB 5400 WD drive., Windows XP.

I didn't have time or desire to check specific programs, but,

The Compaq loads much faster, Windows load much faster after the login screen. Programs including media players like windows media player load very fast. In general the whole experience is just great. And this with 1/4 of the memory of the netbook. (slower memory too).

To make this very clear. A 2002 laptop destroys in performance a 2008 netbook. Even with 1/4 of the RAM.

What I am trying to say is, stay away from laptops, WASTE OF MONEY.
