Vista to XP Downgrade

Hello everyone!

I just recently downgraded from Vista to XP on my Dell Inspiron 1521 laptop. I have everything working except the card reader slot. I found the driver and installed it but when I put the memory stick in the slot it doesn't work. Nothing happens. Did I miss something?? I'm kind of freaking out because I need to use the card reader slot often - I have my own photography business and I'm using this card reader everyday!

The only thing I can suggest is to double checking which driver is installed. The one you want is for the Ricoh R5C833 memory card reader.

I found a page a while back on getpcmemory right HERE that had all the XP drivers you'd need for the Dell 1520/1521. The last listing for drivers on that page is for the memory card reader. What you do is first uninstall the card reader through Device Manager (but only if there is no listing for it in Add/Remove programs.. if it's there, uninstall that way first, then the device itself from Device Manager), and try the driver on that page.

Re: Vista to XP Downgrade

great news guys, if you are having trouble with Dell Inspiron 1521 downgrade to XP from Vista and Audio is not working or Video as well, simply go back to the Dell site, driver download and use the Latitude D531
XP drivers and it fixes the problem.

Fortunately most of the business models have compatible hardware. I used the Audio drivers and it worked as well as the video drivers.

with the 1521 downloads most of the other drivers were fine like the chipset, modem, wireless card and such...although you can use these.

make sure to get all the latest updates, windows installer, .net framework and SP2 or higher, so you wont have any issues with install.

hope this helps..

Hello, need some help in downgrading my Dell 1521 to XP. What SATA driver did you use for your pre-XP installation.

Thanks much.
