Sad HP L2005 Wireless Problem

Alright I am at my end of trying to figure out this problem with this laptop. The machine works fine except the wireless card. It will connect to my router just fine and it might last between 5 to 45mins and will disconnect with no warning. After it disconnects it cannot locate my or anyone else router. It's like the card "turns off" or something. I have to do a shut down and restart and sometimes the card comes back. The steps I have taken to fix the problem are as follows:
Replaced wireless card (internal). I don't have an external wireless card to test
Upgraded (Actually clean install) from XP -> Vista -> Windows 7 all show the same issue.
Updated drivers as well.

I can't seem to figure it out. Everything else on this machine is rock solid. Plugging the computer into the router works without issues. Hope someone has some kind of light on this issue.

Re: HP L2005 Wireless Problem

have you tried different versions of the chipset drivers under all operating systems...?

a slot problem of some sort... maybe some dusty or oxidized connectors...?

maybe a heat build up on the controller for the wireless card...?

I haven't tried different driver versions because all was fine only until about a week ago. It was running fine for at least 3 months since my last reformat.

Checked that as well all was clean. Again I went so far as to buying a new wireless card thinking that was the problem.

I have left the cover to the card off just for that reason, even had a small fan blowing on it while in use and it still would drop the connection and not see any other networks when that happened.

Re: HP L2005 Wireless Problem

well, if all that checks out, are you sure it's not the router that's the problem, have you tried using another router...?

some routers might have problems with particular card models, or even particular MAC or IP addresses... it's not common, but it happens... see if you could manually configure the IP iaddress of your wireless card...

also, it's not a bad idea to update the firmware of the router...

I don't think it can be the router. The latest firmware has been loaded on it for sometime now. I have 4 other computers that are connected wireless to it and all are just fine. And the laptop that has this problem had been working with the router for over 2 years with no issues.

Phew that's odd....I have nothing off the top of my head.....I will do some research to see if I can come up with a solution when I get home.
