Laptop problems

there is something wrong with ma laptop!!!

Iv got a maxdata laptop with windows vista basic

Iv had a lot of problems lately starting with randomly restarting with no warning then other times the screen goes black and looks like blue text but all pixelated so i can read it, then restarting.

now many programs are freezing and i cant install programs :S

any ideas...

any tips on clearing my laptop... i don't care losing all my programs as i can get what i need back easy...

MANY MANY THANKS

Re: Laptop problems

if you're getting a lot of BSODs (Blue Screen Of Death), then i would normally say "format the damn thing"... but first, let's consider the options...

1. is the notebook really hot on any particular parts of the surface (under the notebook)?

2. how long has this been happening?

3. has this unusual behavior increased over time, or did it just start one day and stayed that way?

Re: Laptop problems

1. is the notebook really hot on any particular parts of the surface (under the notebook)? YES AT THE FAN AREA

2. how long has this been happening? ABOUT 4 MONTH

3. has this unusual behavior increased over time, or did it just start one day and stayed that way? GETTING WORSE AND WORSE... TOOK 2 TIMES TO LOG ON JUST NOW THATS NEVER HAPPENED

WOULD FORMATTING IT FIX OR NOT ??

Re: Laptop problems

It may need some cleaning inside if it's getting that hot. Formatting too, but heat may be the main issue

Re: Laptop problems

well, Ty answered your question... it would need cleaning, and formatting too probably, since from all those BSODs, some of the files on the HDD might be damaged...

Re: Laptop problems

Yeah you'll need a vista disk and your COA number (maybe on a sticker on bottom of the unit) From what I've read any OEM vista disk will work if your COA is OEM Vista. Never did a Vista install so I can't confirm that personally......

Re: Laptop problems

It's the Microsoft Vista "Key" number...... COA is certificate of authenticity number. Should be on a reflective "holograph" looking sticker, usually on the bottom of most laptops.

If not it's with your disk, which will make things even more difficult....

since this thread is not related to the problem you're having, open up a new thread, and we'll see what we can do...

Toshiba Support - Homepage

laptop > satellite > A215-S5822

then filter it to WinXp drivers.

If you can't find all the drivers there, come back in this thread and post a screenshot of your device manager so we can see what hardware you got and possibly look for the drivers manually.
