Hey there I think my laptop is almost fubar. I have a Hp zd8000 2gb ram with a crappy ATI x600 display. I updated to the Catalyst 9.11 and noticed my graphics got abit choppy. So I uninstalled Catalyst and the drivers and removed hardware via device manager and figured i'll start clean. So got the Catalyst 9.11 used Mobility Modder on it (to see if that would help the choppy graphics while gaming) and installed the driver. Well the resolution wouldn't go about 1024x768 and the games wouldn't fire up at all. UGH! So in my greatness at dumb ideas I used driver sweeper and tried to reinstall the Catalyst 9.11 again. Rebooted and now I have a black screen after the WindowsXp splash. I'm positive the computer is booting thru to explorer but of course I can't see it but the computer will go into hibernation (says Hibernating )when I press the power button and come out of hibernation still with no display. So now im really freaked! Especially since i'm thinking this is gonna cost me and I just got laid off from that shithole company Tigerdirect. So i figured i'll do a restore in safemode. Well it wont boot to safemode. Son of a bitch! Well my last choice is a repair but I have Xp with service pack 3 installed and only have a Xp sp1 disk. Now im thinking theres still the restore
on the D drive but dont know how to access it? Oh and I tried to do the repair with the xp disk. Failure again! So any ideas would be greatly appreciate. I'd rather not use my laptop as a placemat for dinner if thats what I just turned it into but I will if it's gonna cost me a boatload to fix. Last edited by deadkennedy; Dec 12, 2009 at 09:51 PM. Re: Ugh! ATI graphics Driver issues!
well.... looks like the system is not bootable anymore so you are going to need to take the drive and install it into an HDD enclosure and pull the files out that you need and reformat...
then use drivers that are for that chipset, the 9.11s are very recent but still supported for that card try it again on the freshly formatted system and see what happens...

Re: Ugh! ATI graphics Driver issues!
I didn't see this one earlier :O
The screen seems to be set in an unsupported mode, try to fix that by starting windows in VGA compatibility mode. A description of the Safe Mode Boot options in Windows XP I doubt it has anything to do with your problem, but if you want to deactivate hibernate mode: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/920730 |
