MSI 10" netbook., hard to justify it

Don't do it. Don't buy it. I have almost the same model. They suck. They are slow, their battery life sucks, they are too small and if you have another computer at home, it will end up somewhere far away from use. You will need to buy something more expensive without an Atom CPU.

You probably have to replace that 3 cell with at least a 6 cell unless she is plugging it in anyway.

Depends what your wife needs to use it for. I've found that netbooks are awesome in scenarios that you don't need to run powerful applications (like gaming or CAD software). The battery might be a sucky 3 cells (6 for certain models), but the atom cpu is also a great battery saver. The performance isn't that good, I believe the atom is below the celeron models. But netbooks are so portable, so if she needs to move around with it for whatever purpose, it might be justified.

IMO

If your looking at a netbook, stick to Asus's Netbooks ranging from the 900-HA and up, the new 1005-HA's with win7 and 2gb of ram (you can buy the cheap 1005-HA's with the 1.6ghz 270n atom and 1gb ram and then just replace the 1gb for 2 to see a significant improvement)
