Laptop comparison Alienware vs Gateway

I currently own a Gateway P78 series laptop with these specs:
Intel Core2 Duo P8400 @ 2.26GHz, 4GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce 9800M GTS (1GB)
and it has served me well but its so large that its basically served as a desktop replacement. When I do travel with it, I rarely use it because its a pain to lug around and doesn't have much battery life.

So I just bought a Alienware m11x and upgraded the RAM to 8GB and the processor to the Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 1.3GHz (3MB Cache, 800MHz FSB) and it comes with a Nvidia GeForce GT335M

How do these two notebooks compare? I recently started having problems viewing HD content (.mkv) over HDMI onto my 58" Plasma with my Gateway laptop. It skips and becomes unclear from time to time. Any solutions? Will my Alienware be better suited to display HD content to my TV? Will it be better for gaming? What is everyone's opinion of the new m11x?

You are the only one here who have both...you should be able to tell us how they compare, not the other way around lol.
