Hp ze2308 black screen

Hi guys, hope you can help me.
I have a HP ze2000wm that I was using to set up an access point. After setting up the access point I got a message that my laptop needed to be restarted.....I selected "restart now", then another message appeared on the screen, which I didn't pay attention what it said. The computer went through the restart function, LED's lit up, hard drive started up, got a beep, but never got anything displayed on the screen. Plugged in external monitor and it displayed like it should have. Did some research on what the problems could be..ordered new CCFL and a new inverter board. Installed them today but still have a black screen (CCFL was hooked up to inverter board, not in it's permanent place for simplicity).
Is there anything else I should check? The display switch that makes the video go blank when lid closes looks ok.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Hp ze2308 black screen

it's probably not a hardware problem, so there was probably no reason to order that CCFL...

try resetting the BIOS (load it's defaults), if you can't see anything on the screen and can't find the reset jumper, just unplug the battery from the motherborad and plug it back in... if that doesn't work, try resetting the cables for the screen...

Yeah reseat your video cable and see if that fixes the problem. If not do what GigaWatt said and if that still doesn't remedy the problem try replacing the BIOS battery with a new one altogether.

Hey Gigawatt,
I did what you suggested.......Had to completely disassemble the laptop to get to the battery, removed it for a day, put it back in, reassembled the laptop and now everything is ok. Didn't know where the jumper was located. Anyhow, I needed to replace the AC/DC input jack, so I really didn't mind tearing it all apart.
Thank you very much for the expert help.
