IBM X60 Black screen
I have an old IBM X60, it work fine. But recently it just not work anymore. When I press the button to boot up the computer, it will start up like 2 sec. I can hear the CPU fan when I start it up. But it will stop after 2 sec. But the hard drive is keep running. Could any one tell me what's going on?
Many Thanks |

Re: IBM X60 Black screen
Simplest solution is you might have to reseat the video cable. Complex solution you might need a new system board, but I would start with the video cable. Don't open it if you're worried you might break it though.

Re: IBM X60 Black screen
I had this problem with an old Fujitsu laptop of mine. After long bouts of trial and error, it turned out to be the BIOS battery, of all things. Try replacing that.

Re: IBM X60 Black screen
you would probably have to open it up and see if some cables are unhooked (or not properly mounted), check the Li-Ion battery (probably replace it)... that's about all you can do without a hot air soldering iron... :S
