hey guys you guys were amazing in helping me out before id like to get your help again. i bought a apple ibook g4 from a guy, he said might not work didnt have power cord. i bought one and it turned on perfectly. problem is ive never owned an apple. and at login its asking for the guys password. i contacted him and he cant remember and i dont have original discs. is there anything i can do to erase the password. thanks in advance

you'll have to find a copy of OS X 10.4 or 10.5 and reinstall...

By reinstalling you get a fresh install with none of the old users files/programs. You could reset the password, but you would still need the OS DVD (as you follow the steps to install you will come across a screen that has an option for Utilities, and the reset tool is in there), or an Apple Software Restore Disc in order to run the reset tool.
BTW, take note of the versions DJ listed as Apple dropped support for the Power PC after 10.5. DO NOT buy 10.6 as it only supports Macs with an Intel processor inside. |
