Dear Experts;

I have lenovo thinkPad T400 with Intel(R) Core(TM)2 duo CPU P8700 @ 2.53 GHz 4 GB ram, Windows 7. Please educate me on the following:
1. system show 4.00 GB ram but only 2.46 GB is usable, is this normal? or is there any possible way to maximize the 4.00 GB ram?
2. Apple application support, apple software update, presently i am not using apple devices, is it possible to uninstall these programs? i supposed that these programs are the reason in slowing down my laptop.
3. Conduit Engine, what is purpose of this, is this usable or required to run the system? or i may unstall it.
4. how can i speed up my pc?

Check to see if you are running Win 7 32 bit in which case it's normal for what you are seeing. The way to maximize the mem usage is to install Win 7 64bit. Right click on My Computer and go to properties to find out what version you're running.

As for the Apple software, if you are not using anything from Apple, you can uninstall it.

Here's something on the Conduit Engine you asked about and I would uninstall it if I were you.

"What is Conduit Engine?
Conduit sells search engines to sites that install the engine to hijack home pages. I purchased a product from Ahampoo, and rejected the option to install the Bing Ashampoo search bar, yet it was installed. The code of my hijacked home page is Search. Conduit evidently is in some partnership of revenue sharing of the hijacked home pages. A Web of Trust search will show many complaints from users. Conduit Engine shows up in my add/remove programs, but failed to uninstall, and the "uninstall" was preceded by some direct script code that quickly popped up and then disappeared, I assume so that the search bar cannot truly be uninstalled."
