Hi peeps,

I have an Acer Laptop which wont charge.

When the charger is plugged in at the mains with the power on but not plugged into the laptop the charger lights up like it is working... but when I plug it into the laptop the light goes out and it doesn't charge.

When the charger is attached to the laptop and then plugged into the mains nothing happens at all...

could anyone tell me if it is a charger issue or a battery issue?

sounds like a charger issue... that light should never go out....

keep in mind.. short of actually testing each part individually... there isn't guaranteed way to tell... just a fyi..

while the power adapter should show a steady solid light while plugged in or charging... it's possible short or failure in the charger occurs when it's under load (plugged into the laptop)..... OR the laptop could have a short/issue inside which is causeing the charger to appear to fail or quit...

Generally though it's the charger rarely the laptop....

Best way to check is to find someone with a compatible laptop to plug the charger into and see if it produces the same results.. just make the Volts and Amps for OUTPUT are EXACTLY the same.. and never force the plug into the laptop if it doesn't appear to fit.
