exclamation HP Pavillion DV-5

hello everyone,

Today i've found my old notebook (well old isnt it acutally because its 2 years old)

I've cleaned up all fans of it, and tried to fire it up. Sadly after trying to start he laptop, it remind me it was broken. I took it to a local compter store and they couldnt find the problem, i was 100 euro's lighter for only making a ''diagnose''

But if i try to start it nothing happens, i plugged the adapter into the wall outlet and a white little led shows up at the side of the powerjack. But the laptop still doesnt want to start at all no noises no lights going no on no screen. Also the battery is broken because i forget to take the battery out when im charging the laptop. So what do i have to do? I have read some topics on other forums that if my battery is broken i have to buy a new battery and everything will work fine. The battery itself costs 80 euro/100dollars will it eventually work after i bought a new battery?

Greetings from Max

Take the battery out then try. Laptops don't actually require a battery but a faulty battery may cause an issue.
Next time you go for a check-up, look for a no-fix-no-fee service.

I would expect most laptops but especially a DV-series HP with those symtoms to be beyond help. I've seen to many fail after just a few years. I suppose they measured the voltage coming out of the adapter or tried another adapter when diagnosing it?

Yes they did, and there was a little bit of difference but not much that it wont work.

But could it also be the powerjock which is broken?

Re: HP Pavillion DV-5

That's certainly a common source of such problems on a laptop, but hopefully they tested it with some other power adapter.
